A History of Me
I co-organized the first CEOS, which was held on May 12th and 13th, along with other members of the Dal-ACM. CEOS is the “Largest Open Source conference in Atlantic Canada”, and was so successful that we will be holding another CEOS next year. We, the organizers. welcome any suggestions regarding how the conference can be improved in the future. Incidentially, I have been selected as chair of CEOS 2006.
In Februrary of 2005, my application to the GNOME Foundation was accepted, so now I it’s my sworn duty to promote GNOME. Around the same time, I launched Planet Dal CS, a news feed aggregator for the Dalhousie Computer Science community.
In my spare time, I write code (among other things) for GNOME, a free desktop suite and development platform for Unix and Linux systems. I began in March of 2004, under the watchful eyes of Fernando Herrera. If you’d like to get involved, check out gnome-love.
In 2003, I wrote a brief paper with Dave Dearman, and Ryan Perkins titled “Transparency for Item Highlighting”. It was accepted as a poster presentation at Graphics Interface 2003. If you wish to read it, you can find the paper and poster on Dave’s site.
Education
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Computer Science. They were kind enough to give it to me in 2004.
